Clarity

You come to me in my dreams

An old friend I’ll never see again

We’ll never speak but there we’re free

Without the constraints of our different upbringings

We spend the holidays, muse about love

A balance we never had, a harmony

I don’t miss you when I wake

The you of my sleep is the one I crave

The clarity to understand, to discern

What we had is now just lessons learned

You could never accept me for who I’ve become

I’m so much freer than you’d ever allow yourself to be
